about

This is a product of a two-day recording binge while in New Orleans. It's two separate musical ideas, one for each day spent here. I took a break during my first afternoon of writing to cycle along the Mississippi River and clear my head. I came back with connecting ideas and a recording of an old water pump system that connected the levee to the town. I wanted to fit it into the recording to commemorate my time spent here working on this piece of music and the experience I had while riding along the river. That's the sound you hear at the beginning and end.
About this process; it's really pretty exhausting for me and it's not the best way to write (my ears have been fatigued a great deal from so much use and that's a good way to make bad fidelity recordings). Spacing it out would be the smart thing, but I felt it was a good exercise to set myself a deadline of two days to make something special. These two days have been very long and full of multiple takes. I'm not a great player, performer or engineer, nor am I classically trained; I feel that keeps my recordings unique, sloppy, and beautiful at the same time.
Anyhow, it's 4am and that was about the same time I went to sleep last night as well. I hope you enjoy what I've created here. I'm very happy with it. It moves me and makes me feel emotional. That's why I do this. Download and share for free. Please. Thank you.

about

evergreen Altamonte Springs, Florida

I'm Jeff. Musical ideas oftentimes find my head, some of which feel natural/authentic and some of which feel nurtured/borrowed. At times, a blank canvas and record button yield magic. Other times, the sounds take patience to develop. The ideas range from very basic to very complex. These are the recordings I wish to share with you. I hope you enjoy them as much as I have. ... more
